Twitter has suspended the account of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi

The Congress said that Rahul Gandhi's Twitter account has been temporarily suspended and proper process is underway to restore it.  Until then, it will stay connected to you through your other SM platforms and continue to raise its voice for our people and fight for their cause.  Jai Hind!

The Wayanad MP is probably posting on Instagram as a result of not being able to access his account.

He resorted to the popular photo and video sharing app to congratulate Neeraj Chopra on his historic Olympic victory.

Earlier in the day, Twitter deleted Rahul Gandhi's tweet in which he shared a picture of relatives of a minor girl who was allegedly raped and murdered in the Delhi Cantonment area earlier this week.  The shared photo showed the faces of the victim's parents.

The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on Wednesday issued a notice to Twitter asking it to take action against the Wayanad MP's Twitter handle for violating the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.  The identity of the rape victim was revealed.

The Children's Commission, in a letter to the Complaints Officer of Twitter India, said that posting a photo of the family of any juvenile victim is a violation under Section 74 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 and Section 23 of the POCSO Act.
