In the current year in the state. As on July 6, an estimated 20.5 lakh hectares of kharif crops have been planted. The season so far in the state has been 13.5 mm. It gets raining. Farmers in Gujarat are currently embarrassed by the rains. The government has tried to save the kharif crop by announcing 2 hours more electricity today. In Gujarat, the standing crop has been wilting for the last one week without even a drop of rain. At present the crop is in dire need of irrigation. As a result, farmers are worried.
The meeting of the Weather Watch Group, chaired by the Relief Commissioner and Additional Secretary of the State Emergency Operations Center, was held today via video conference.
The relief commissioner said that this morning from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm in Sagbara taluka of Narmada district of the state 06 mm. It was raining. The state has so far received 12.5 mm of rainfall on 08/09/2071. Which is 12.5% as compared to the state average of 30 mm for the last thirty years.
6.5% planting against three year average planting area
An IMD official said that Saurashtra and South Gujarat have received relatively good rainfall while the state is likely to receive rains after July 11.
According to the official of the agriculture department, an estimated 20.5 lakh hectares of kharif crops have been planted till 05/08/2021. Last year, 20.5 lakh hectares were planted during this period. This year, the area under the last three years has been planted at 7.5%.
Storage of 2,09,50 MCFT water in 203 reservoirs
According to an official of the Irrigation Department, the Sardar Sarovar reservoir has a storage capacity of 1,2,3 mcft of water. Which is 31.5% of the total storage capacity. The 303 reservoirs in the state have a storage of 2,06,50 MCFT of water which is 4.5% of the total storage capacity. At present, there are a total of 07 reservoirs on high alert, 07 reservoirs on alert in the state and a total of 07 reservoirs on warning.
Out of total 12 teams of NDRF, 3 teams have been deployed out of which 1-Valsad, 1-Surat,
1-Navsari, 1-Rajkot, 1-Gir Somnath have been deployed while 3-Team Vadodara and 3 Team Ganghinagar have been reserved.
Officers of Forest Department, Fisheries Department, Energy Department, Roads and Buildings Department, Health Department, GMB, Coast Guard, Urban Development and Urban Housing Department, GSRTC and Sardar Sarovar Nigam Limited. He joined the online meeting and said that he was fully prepared to deal with all the monsoons.
