The State Government had constituted a Commission for Socially and Educationally 6 Roofing Classes in the year 1918 to study the social and economic upliftment of the 6 roof classes and to differentiate the castes belonging to these classes. This Commission is known as Bakshi Panch as it is chaired by retired Judge of Gujarat High Court Shri AR Bakshi. The commission submitted its report in two parts to the state government in the year 18. As per the recommendations made in this report. As per the recommendations made by the state government for the education, economic and social upliftment of the citizens included in these categories from 1/4/18, Gujarat ૫ Roof Class Board was constituted in the year 18. The Board had implemented a Dughala cattle scheme for the economic upliftment of these classes. This board was dissolved from 17-9-17 as per the proclamation of the Government of Gujarat dated 6-9-16. .
The Government felt the need for an autonomous body for the economic upliftment of the socially and educationally deprived classes. To achieve this objective, the Government introduced a bill in the name of Gujarat ૫ Roof Class Development Corporation in the Legislative Assembly and this Bill was prepared by the Legislative Assembly in 19th. Thus Gujarat ૫ Roof Class Development Corporation Act-18 came into existence. Under Section (2) (1) of this Act, the Government of Gujarat The state government has made provision for the corporation to get a capital fund of Rs. 15 crore while replacing the Gujarat ત Roof Class Development Corporation from 3/6/18. After that the amount of authorized share capital has been increased to Rs. 20 crore has been done.
